Finders Keepers

A lost thing
hunted and searched for
missed and mourned
no trace remains
no tears or regrets
reveal where it is
sadly forgotten

A cast off thing
unloved, unwanted
useless, discarded
gladly forgotten

A found thing
a treasure discovered
a present, a gift
freecycled, recycled
finders keepers

A picked up thing
a prize disguised
poisonous perfume
finders losers

Jo Wright is retired and lives in Dorset. She has written poems and stories all her life but has only recently felt brave enough to begin sharing them with others.

  1. Good for you for sharing your writing Jo. Like the way you use an object to tell a sinister story.

  2. Good, I like it. Holding the surprise till the end

  3. It has been listed (a slip) in a comment as FINGERS KEEPERS:)
    Love it! And the poem!
