After nearly a millennium,
the tapestry that’s housed
in the town of Bayeux
will be shown in the UK
for the very first time.
Once assured of its safety
it will be coming our way.
But Macron has let it be known
it won’t be before twenty-twenty
and when it eventually arrives
the artwork will only be on loan.
To be reminded of ten-sixty-six
according to die-hard Brexiteers
is a threat of another conquest
and that the EU is up to old tricks.
But the remainers think it’s a thrill
that the French made the offer
to lend us the famous tapestry
which is a proof of their goodwill.
