Thanks for the good wishes! We're putting up four poems today as 'examples' just to get everyone inspired!

Are we allowed to submit poems that deal with issues generally, or do they need to match something specifically?

All the best with your wonderful new venture! I am inspired and hope to contribute a wee something soon.

I read through the poems published so far. I am impressed.
Good stuff here, hope it continues on the same level.

Jessica - If it's a topical issue that can be loosely linked to an event/issue in the news, that would be good. This way, we maintain the news-related tone of the blog.

Nana Jo - Many thanks. We look forward to receiving contributions, any time.

Friko - Thank you. Clare and I are really pleased with the way things have gone today. Are you thinking of offering something?

This is fantastic! Congratulations. Beautifully conceived, and, judging by today's poems, many riches in store for us readers!

I'm not one for writing poetry but I've loved reading these today. They're accessible, beautifully structured and thought-provoking - a real treat. Best wishes with this great idea.

Rainy - Delighted you enjoyed it! We certainly hope to attract 'more riches'

Tess - Thank you! *blushes*

Jenny - That's exactly the reaction we hoped for - so glad you enjoyed!

I'll be reading, primarily because Mark Kerstetter gave you a thumbs-up. I'm glad to see others joining me in the News Poem telos. If you're curious, you can go to Toylit at blogspot. I've been at it every day since Jan 22, 2010. Let me know if I can help you.

Great idea, Martin and Clare. Will be keeping an eye.

Fran - It would be great if you could encourage your pupils to contribute something - we'd love to get some young voices involved. You could use this poem as an example?

Niamh - Thanks. And remember, if you're inspired to write a poem based on a news story, we'd love to see it, here.

Silly question, but is it possible for you to post your e-mail or give it to me from my comment section? I'd love to contribute to Poetry24.

I am having trouble getting to you. I'm quite inept at modern technology.

Martin H. said...

thingy - Clare and I would love you to contribute to Poetry24, too. Our email links are under the tab for submission guidelines. Don't forget to send your submissions to Clare and myself.

Cheers

Martin.

As this unfolds, the quality of writing here is superb. Though not a poet myself, I am really enjoying reading the poems.
